Dr. Christian Rauch
Founder at STATE
Christian is founder and director at STATE and mainly responsible for creative concepts and strategy.
After graduating from TU Berlin, Christian received a PhD in Applied Physics as EU Marie-Curie Fellow from Aalto University, Helsinki. With a deep conviction about the important role of science for our future world and the need to involve more people and perspectives into the conversation, Christian has worked in a variety of roles in scientific research, science communication, innovation management and grassroots activism – as nanotechnology researcher, technology transfer manager, executive coach or community organizer. Christian is guest lecturer at the European Centre for Executive Education (CEDEP) on the INSEAD campus in Fontainebleau, France, and serves as an ambassador for the US-based XPRIZE Foundation for the AI XPRIZE and the Avatar XPRIZE. He regularly speaks and writes on the topic of science in society, art and culture and his work has published in leading scientific and popular media.
Johanna Teresa Wallenborn
Program & Communications
CO-Founder at STATE Studio Berlin
Johanna is responsible for the exhibition program and communications at STATE Studio. After having worked with STATE as a freelancer since 2014, Johanna has joined the permanent team in 2018 as co-founder of STATE Studio Berlin, where she contributes her experience with building cultural spaces and contributes her passion for creating opportunities and connections between people, practice and places.
Before joining STATE, Johanna has worked in a variety of roles at the intersection culture and technology. After graduating with a B.A. from University College Maastricht, she co-founded LEHRTER SIEBZEHN Open Project Space Berlin, acted as program coordinator for the German-Mexican Year, served as director of NODE Forum 2017, and worked as Head of Communications at MESO Digital Interiors GmbH. Next to her work with STATE, Johanna lectures at the department of Electronic Media at Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach.
Events and Hosting
CO-Founder at STATE Studio berlin
Veronika is responsible for events and hosting at STATE Studio and has supported STATE since 2015 with creative production and partnerships. In 2018, Veronika joined as co-founder of STATE Studio Berlin.
Veronika is a photographer, stylist and creative producer. After graduating with a degree in Fine Art, Print & Digital Media from Wimbledon School of Art, Veronika has worked in variety of roles in creative production for companies such Shotview, Le Book and Springer and since 2013 worked as freelance photographer and stylist. Her independent street photography has been exhibited internationally and captures the intimate details in everyday situations around her. She never leaves the house without her camera.
Program Assistant and Cultural Producer
Christina is working as program assistant and cultural producer at STATE Studio to bring to live the gallery’s exhibitions. She has joined STATE in 2018.
Christina is currently finishing her thesis in history of arts at Freie Universität Berlin and is also working as studio manager at Atelier Roman Lipski. Previously, Christina has gained experience in exhibition planning, communications and marketing in several roles at institutions such as Gallery the Ballery and Carl & Friends Advertising.
Victoria is working as office manager and assistant to Christian. She is mainly responsible for the administration and accounting at STATE Studio.
Victoria is a trained event manager and learned at the Hilton Hotel Berlin. After graduating with a B.A. in sociology and economics at Universität Potsdam she joined our team in 2019.
Leonie is currently working at STATE Studio as an intern with main focus on visitor engagement and partnerships. She studies history at Humboldt Univsersität zu Berlin.
Before joining STATE Studio, she worked at Institut für Zeitgeschichte, Berlin.
