In October 2017, as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of sister cities Berlin and Los Angeles, STATE Festival brought Berlin's Open Science scene to LA and sets up camp in a downtown arts gallery for its temporary Studio space. On the menu: a month-long series of events such as art installations, panels, workshops, a hackathon, interactive demonstrations and performances.

For 5 consecutive days the run-up to STATE Festival 2016, an abandoned shop at Bülowstr. 90 in Berlin-Schöneberg was turned into a pulsating public laboratory: The PopUpLab. The PopUpLab presented an exciting mix of workshops, lectures and performances with local and international artists, scientists and creatives.
