Nicolas got his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of the West of England in Bristol. He is currently studying at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain at Humboldt-University in Berlin. The programme combines neuroscience, psychology and philosophy. He has worked for the past four years in the satellite lab of the Max-Planck-Institute for Human, Cognition and Brain Sciences in Berlin where he worked within the ReSource-Project, one of the largest longitudinal studies on meditation and mental training. Besides neuroscience and philosophy his main interest lies in Eastern contemplative traditions, especially Buddhism and Daoism, and the meditative techniques associated with them, e.g. meditation, Yoga and Qigong. He is fascinated by the idea of applying the scientific method to the mind and wants to work towards integrating ancient wisdom and modern technology in order to gain a more complete understanding of the inner workings of the human mind and brain.
