Born in Munich in 1956, the painter Andreas Jungk studied law before he was introduced to the techniques and philosophy of Zen calligraphy by a Japanese Zen teacher between 1995 and 2000. Jungk's works, often black-and-white and reduced to a few strokes and movements, read as if they were unintentional, without an underlying intellectual concept and as an immediate presence. In his work "unborn" Jungks fascination for elementary structures of nature and quantum-physical phenomena finds its expression: it symbolizes the quantum space in which things appear similar - but never the same. Jungks works have been shown at Kunst Zürich and Benjamin Eck Galerie, amongst others.
