Ralf Steeg

Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Ralf Steeg is the owner of an engineering office and has been working in the field of urban ecology and urban water management for more than 30 years. He is particularly interested in the linking of urban planning and water bodies as well as the interconnection of engineering sciences with art. For his work he was awarded by the Council for Sustainable Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, was participant of many exhibitions, for example the Architecture Biennale Venice, Expo Shanghai, Architecture Gallery AEDES and 300 Years of Science in Berlin. With his engineering firm, he is working to make new construction for sewage treatment plants more effective and faster to implement, to reduce wastewater discharges into water bodies, to make river banks more ecological, and to find new ways to store rain and keep it in the natural cycle. This research was funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin and the Stiftung Naturschutz Berlin, among others.
