RETHINKING BERLIN'S SUSTAINABLE FUTURES – WATER AND MOBILITY
An ArtScience Interplay as part of S+T+ARTS Academies
Friday, May 20th, 2022, 4:00 - 6:00 pm
About this Event
The S+T+ARTS Academy event will take shape as an ArtScience Interplay that invites participating artists, scientists, local stakeholders as well as Berlin’s citizens to speculate about the city’s futures of water and mobility together.
When: May 20th, 2022, 4:00 to 6:00 pm
Where: At CLB Berlin, Prinzenstraße 84.2, 10969 Berlin
What: An interactive presentation of artistic prototypes from the S+T+ARTS Residencies and the launch of Futures Canvas, a crowdsourcing tool for envisioning sustainable futures
With this event we aim to stimulate citizen engagement and support the social development of sustainable local and European communities. The program supports freedom of knowledge and learning, and culture of science. By uniting experts from the field of culture as well as science, technology and industry, the S+T+ARTS Academy serves as an environment to foster new exchanges around future challenges. In an experimental format we want to ask: How might we rethink our relationship with water and our approach to mobility in Berlin-Brandenburg?
More about S+T+ARTS Residencies
In February 2022, a total of 21 S+T+ARTS Residencies started across Europe, in which artists work together with Local Expert Groups towards the European Sustainable Development Goals and the European Green Deal. The Regional S+T+ARTS Center STATE, in collaboration with BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt, accompanies two of these S+T+ARTS residencies, which are dedicated to the topics of water and mobility in Berlin. Before the artworks go into production for the exhibitions at MAXXI Museum in Rome, ZKM Karlsruhe and MEET in Milan, we would like to invite you to discuss the concepts and ideas with us and to collectively create images of our future. At this S+T+ARTS Academy event the S+T+ARTS Residency artists will be present.
You can expect:
An inspiring late afternoon with playful exchanges with the artists-in-residence Felix Gaedtke and Johanna Schmeer who collaborates with Studio Lapatsch|Unger, presentations of prototypes, interactions with the Local Expert Group alongside further participants and Futures Canvas, our new digital participatory tool to gather collective future visions, and an easy gathering on CLB’s terrace. Although the event has an agenda that can be joined at any time, we recommend arriving in time to participate in different impulse talks during the afternoon.
