Alwin de Rooij studies the relationships between emotion, neurotransmitters, and executive functions to learn more about creativity and innovation. He uses both quantitative and artistic methods; where emerging technologies are used to study creativity in new ways. The ultimate goal of his research is to understand creativity better in order to develop tools and technologies that can help people to get the most out of their own creative capabilities.

Alwin de Rooij is currently assistant professor at the Tilburg Center for Cognition and Communication, Tilburg University. Previously, he received a PhD degree in creativity science from City University London, after earning degrees in media technology from Leiden University and in ArtScience from the Royal Academy of Art and Royal Conservatoire, The Hague.
