Olaf Schirm was born in Berlin in 1958 and lives and works there today. He developed his first music synthesizer at the age of 17 and has been closely associated with electronic music ever since. He began studying physics and biology and taught himself computer science while working in sound and television studios. At the age of 27 he founded his first company "Vierte Art" for the then emerging computer animation industry of the 80s. In the mid 90's he developed software and hardware for real-time motion capture on humans with his company "X-IST". Around 2000 he founded "noDNA", an agency for synthetic actors and in 2006 a trading company for research robotics. Since 2014, he has dedicated himself exclusively to art and science and frequency art.
