Three Seconds In Sound – A Sonic Meditation on the Present
John Connell
Workshop
Cross-cultural studies suggest that
we experience the present moment
as a three-second time frame: many activities and interactions fit within this brief window of continuity. But how much information are we able to experience within this window of the “present” and this sense of “now”? What level of detail are we able to perceive? How might this influence our experience of life from moment to moment, and our sense of the passage of time? This session will explore these questions through guided meditation, using immersive sound design and mindfulness techniques with some discussion on the group’s experiences.
