In moments as unrelenting as death, as basic as hunger, and as complex as a rite of passage, tears are the medium of our most primal language. Topography of Tears is a study and series of more than one hundred human tears photographed through an optical microscope, comprising a wide range of the artist’s own and others’ tears, causes and emotional states: from elation to onion, sorrow, frustration to rejection, resolution to laughter.
