WE KNOW HOW YOU FEEL
INSTALLATION
We Know How You Feel is an artwork in two parts, looking at computational emotion classification and categorisation: While the first part displays the Mind Reading Emotions Library, an interactive collection of videos, audio fragments and scenes depicting 412 distinct emotions —ranging from ‘angry’ to ‘unsure’— grouped in 24 categories, the second part of the project is an app that looks like a tech demo of emotion analysis software. By juxtaposing different layers and types of information, this installation unveils and addresses assumptions underlying purportedly objective practices, and questions the impact of emotion analysis technology on human self-image.
