Dani Tagen
Dani Tagen
Dani Tagen is a London-based artist whose practice involves the use of several platforms, mainly lens-based media, installations, music and site-specific. Tagen makes works that are visually simple but conceptually complex. In a unique way of thinking about the world as a philosophy of the everyday with its complexities and intricacies - a constant interrogation of manifold systems, affective infrastructures and the technological interfaces that inscribe society in the individual. Her work shows a profound sense of the deep time found in archaeology or the cyclical appreciation of felt time. She is opposed to the mad consumerism and the excesses of 21st century living and focuses on producing artworks that have a low maintenance “shelf-life". She aspires to understand the difference between wanting and needing. An approach helps her see some coherence in this unpredictable thing we all call life.
Her short experimental film “Time Window” has won Best Experimental May21 and was the finalist for Best Director Debut at the ACCORD Film Festival and was the May21 Semi-Finalist at the San Francisco Indie Short Film Festival.
She has recently shown an immersive video-installation commissioned by Bow Arts & Arts Council England. Tagen has exhibited in her native Sao Paulo as well as, London, Berlin and Vienna. Her work is held in private collections in Houston, Sao Paulo, London and Tokyo.
In 2021, she graduated from an MA in Fine Arts at Chelsea College of Arts - UAL, London.
